What Splitido is

Splitido is an app for splitting shared costs with flatmates and travel companions. This policy explains what personal data the app handles, why, and what your choices are.

Data we handle

• Account: your email address, your name, and either a password (stored only as a salted hash by our authentication provider) or your basic Google profile if you sign in with Google.
• Profile: the profile picture you choose.
• Content you enter: flats and trips you create or join, their members, expenses, shares, comments, receipt photos you attach, and settlements.
• Support messages: anything you write to support, and the replies.
• Payment details you choose to save: IBAN, Revolut, Flik, PayPal, Wise or free-text payment instructions. These are optional.
• Preferences: your language and country.
• Notifications: if you enable push notifications, a push subscription identifier for your device.
• Technical data: your IP address and device information are processed by our hosting provider to deliver the app. The country derived from your IP is used only to guess a starting language and is not stored.

Why we use it

To provide the service you asked for: creating groups, splitting costs, calculating balances and recording settlements (performance of a contract). To send push notifications only if you switch them on (consent, which you can withdraw at any time). To keep the app secure and working (legitimate interest).

Who can see your data

Other members of a flat or trip you belong to can see your name, picture, the expenses you are part of, and balances.

Your saved payment details are never shown in member lists. They are revealed only to a member who is paying you a specific debt, for that payment.

We do not sell your data and we do not show advertising.

Service providers

• Supabase: database, authentication and file storage.
• Vercel: hosting of the app.
• Google: sign-in, only if you choose Sign in with Google.
• Your browser or device vendor's push service, only if you enable notifications.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area; where that happens they rely on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and local storage

Splitido uses only what is needed to work: a sign-in session cookie, a cookie remembering your language, a cookie remembering that you have chosen your country, and browser storage for your theme and for the one-time introduction. The app may also keep a copy of its home screen in your browser cache so it opens faster. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, so no cookie banner is required.

How long we keep it

While your account exists. Expenses and settlements recorded in a shared flat or trip may stay visible to the other members as part of the group's shared records.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and you can object to processing. You can edit your name, picture and payment details yourself in Settings, and you can delete your account there. Deleting removes your name, picture, payment details, support messages and push subscriptions and disables sign-in; expenses you took part in remain in your groups' records as "Deleted user" so other members' balances stay correct. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in Slovenia, the Information Commissioner, www.ip-rs.si).

Children

Splitido is not intended for anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version and its date will be published on this page.
